I never wore those hard plastic mask -plastic smock Halloween costumes. Mom said they were for "The Po Folk". She used to HAND MAKE my costumes and they were FABULOUS (No, sarcasm…Mom musta been a gay man in one of her past lives!) I remember every time I went to WOOLWORTHS or BUY RITE around Halloween I would LOOK at these costume sets – The fun was finding ones you'd thought never see. No, not Casper and Scooby Doo…I mean stuff like "Keth Partridge"! You know you've made it BIG when they model a Halloween costume after you!
There is a Hardy Boys costume like this with the plastic masks (I think)! How cool would it be to be Parker Stevenson?
Before I was smart enough to hate clowns, I went as a clown for a couple of years. It was easy. One year, I went as a Valley Girl because I had my brothers tee shirt that made a great mini-dress and everytime someone put something in my bag, I'd say "Like, Oh My Gawd."
In the early '90s, I came across this SCOTT BAIO/ERIN MORAN boxed number at a fly-by-night Halloween discount shop in South Philly. It came with both masks, and the Joanie one was particularly frightening. Sadly, I lost it while moving three or four apartments back 🙁

I only had two of those vinyl costumes with the annoying plastic masks: Tweedy bird and a generic witch. I would have killed for that awesome Wonder Woman costume. I so wanted to be Wonder Woman when I was 7. Those types of masks were a nightmare for a kid that wore glasses. Amanda, I also dressed as a clown before I became frightened of them. By the way, Parker Stevenson was always my favorite Hardy Boy.

Wow, that was very cool!…I actually had that very same Bat-Man costume…the thing that sucked about those, were that they had the name of the super hero on the chest!!!
Heh. I totally used to wear dem plastic, flame-enticing costumes. The last one I had, I was old enough to realize how ridiculous it was to wear a vinyl sack emblazoned with pictures of the character I was supposed to "be."
I wear Smurfette, therefore I am.
I remember the mask part of the costume smelling really, really weird. It made me feel dizzy. And I always cut my tongue, trying to give raspberries through the jagged mouthpiece.
Mickster, Parker was my favorite too. Hell, he's STILL my favorite! I still have a huge crush to go along with my Hardy Boys lunchbox!

Amanda,
It's funny but my clearest memory of the show before I bought seasons 1 & 2 on DVD was Parker Stevenson riding his motorcycle in his underwear. I must confess that I bought Frank Hardy (Parker Stevenson) doll on EBay last year. I bet that lunchbox is cool!
Wow, you bought a Parker doll?!? I don't think I even knew they had one I bow down to your Parker love!
I have Hardy Boys Season one and two as well. Good stuff!
Mickster, please show me as much Parker as you want! That doll is actually not a bad likeness.
I have an 8×10 of him from Are You Lonesome Tonight in my cubicle at work. It's funny when co-workers first notice it. They always do a double take!
Let's kidnap him!

Amanda, all right! I'm in on the kidnap plan! Do you remember that made-for-TV movie This House Possessed? I bet that's not available on DVD. Oh yeah, how about when he was on Melrose Place (One of my guilty pleasures from the 90's)? Stupid Allison chose Billy over Parker's character.
OMG, This House Possessed is one of my all time favorite films of all time ever in the history of the world and the universe. You're right, it's not on DVD (or vhs), but you can pick up copies on Ioffer.com pretty easily. I want to do a big write up on it for my blog, but it's just so GOOD, I don't think I could do it justice.
I agree, Allison was a dolt. And not just for choosing Billy. She was kind of blech. Later on in the series she hooks up with Perry King. So. Not. Fair.
Great – now you just gave me a flashback of the evil disembodied hand coming out from under the black velvet and chasing me around!

Being a kid rocked.

Memories…
We'd all be fighting over who got to dress up as Aunt John this year if we knew what he looked like.
@mama: That would be a pretty simple costume to make. Just cross THIS with THIS, and throw in a pinch of THIS… and you've got the Aunt John look!
oh that is TOO funny!
(Makes you wonder who used to let their kids go out as THE VILLAGE PEOPLE , doesnt it?)

Amanda, I promise this is the last one, but I wanted to show you what the doll looks like.

Costumes used to be so simple. What happened to them? I've got a 10 year old and I swear I drop around $50 each year.
