WELCOME TO POOH CORNER. You know, the Winnie-the-Pooh live action people-in-suits show? They had this government sponsored special called "Say No to Strangers," which I would rent from our local video store time and time again, because I was horror struck…oh yes, it's on YouTube.
A. A. Milne wept.
Seriously…they couldn't have made up new characters to explain the dark side of mankind to children?
What about the use of numerous wonderful cartoon characters in 1990's Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue? My niece and nephew viewed this several times when they were little. I'm surprised that no one has had a traumafession related to this cartoon. Read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cartoon_All_Stars_to_the_Rescue Watch a clip here:
Mickster,
Wow that is scary! Why is it that every anti-drug program goes out of it's way to create an environment that makes you feel like you ARE on drugs. Was Alf choking Bugs Bunny for some reason ? That screachy song is now stuck in my head. I think that kid summed it up when he woke up and said "what a nightmare!"
Unk, I use to babysit my niece and nephew every Saturday, and I remember when this was first shown. I thought to myself, "What the hell is this crap?" I am surprised that I let them watch it more than once. My rule use to be, "If it gets on my nerves we're not watching it." In the summer, I would take them the the local video store on dollar Tuesday to let them rent something; however, they had to show it to me first so they didn't rent something awful like Barney. Yes, I am a terrible person.
In keeping with today's sunny theme of using beloved children's characters to teach kids about evil in the world reminds me of the infamous UNICEF Smurf commercial:
Mick, Prof,
I'm just going to make a post from every comment you two make for the rest of your lives!
P.S Anybody notice that the beloved "M.A.S.H babies" are nowhere to be found in the All-stars show?
I still feel like a total ass for believing in M.A.S.H Babies (even if it was only for a couple of minutes). I'm such an idiot…
And I really wish they were real…
