Has anyone mentioned the horror that is the A THIEF IN THE NIGHT series of ‘70s fundamentalist Rapture movies? I don't know if these no-budget masterpieces actually converted anybody to Christianity, but they undoubtedly caused a lot of damp sheets in households with traumatized youth group members.
The LEFT BEHIND movies WISH they could be this scary.
This clip is from the third movie, IMAGE OF THE BEAST
I can't say as I remember these films, but I do know that I want that mustache!
I never can get my mind around how some people actually believe that the general populace, when confronted with undeniable proof of the fulfillment of biblical prophecy, would join up with the forces of lucifer leaving a handful of true believer christians to face the evil horde. I'm not a religious person in any way, but if the "666 on your forehead" bill ever gets passed I'm gonna join up with my bible-thumpin' relatives and repent!
Oh, and Patty clearly should have been doing some more work on her core. Coulda been a life saver. Didn't they have crunches back in the '70s?
Thanks for the memories! Â I watched that when I was young, and that scene is exactly how I remember it!
The moral of the story: Caving into peer pressure is bad, boys and girls. Especially in the middle of Divine Intervention.
Seriously though, that is one of the most nail-biting sequences I've ever seen. And not to be offensive or anything, but I've never understood why fear has to be such a big part of religion.
Is it wrong I totally want to watch these movies for entertainment purposes? 🙂
@Blackwingrose – No, it is not wrong. I even watched the Kirk Cameron one. Most lulzy.
Awww, Patty, you should have grown some… I'm an agnostic, and even I wouldn't take the Mark if it meant hanging around with guys with one eyebrow and dodgy face hair…
I've only ever read about this series, but would love to get a look in on them…
