There was a show on when I was little called DARKROOM. It was kind of like THE TWILIGHT ZONE and they told different horror stories each week. One episode was about a girl who was convinced that this guy she knew was a vampire and nobody believed her. At the end she is proven wrong and is all relieved, but then the guy says at the last minute "I'm not a vampire…I'm a werewolf!" and attacks her. Just thought you should know that this was the scariest thing I can remember seeing on T.V.
UNKLE LANCIFER SEZ: Brad! God bless you! I had nearly forgotten about this show! The episode that sticks in my brain is one that involved toy soldiers coming to life and attacking a guy. DARKROOM was hosted by JAMES COBURN, ran from 1981-82 (7 episodes, 16 stories in all) and is not currently available on DVD. The episode you mentioned is called "The Bogeyman Will Get You" and was written by PSYCHO scribe Robert Block. Believe it or not, it stars a young HELEN HUNT and telenastie-fave QUINN CUMMINGS (THE BABYSITTER, NIGHT TERROR). I found a great episode guide HERE and if you're up for it, you can watch the beginning of the episode you mentioned HERE. Unfortunately that scary ending is nowhere to be found, but maybe that's for the best. Another interesting thing that I discovered is that the stories in the much-loved theatrical anthology film NIGHTMARES were all originally written for the show DARKROOM, but were considered too intense for television. Man, Brad you lit a fire under my shoe! Now I gotta find me some more DARKROOM!
KINDER UPDATE: Talk about Synchronicity! It has come to my attention that one of your Unkle Lancifer's favorite people Jeff Allard, just posted a great piece on this very show. So, for even more developments in the DARKROOM make sure you stop by and have DINNER WITH MAX JENKE !

Holy Shiz! I have vague memories about Darkroom…mostly of James C. and his black turtleneck…was it a turtleneck…and did he wear it every episode? I'll have to click your link and see if one of the episodes was about a couple that harvested honey and the shocker was that they had some kind of creepy bee-baby hybrid in a bassinet instead of a regular human baby. Or may-bee (see how I did that?) it was another horror anthology show…
Well phooey, how did I possibly miss this cool show? The clip on You Tube left me wanting more. What a tease only having the first 10 minutes of the episode. I saw enough to notice the sheriff was played by R.G. “Uncle Lewis Vendredi†Armstrong. Whenever I see him, I expect him to be up to no good. Thanks Brad for acquainting me with this show and thanks Unkle Lancifer for finding the clip. Â

Count me in on the Darkroom love! I just posted a blog yesterday about this underrated show! And I totally agree about the ending to "The Bogeyman Will Get You' – it's a classic!
Oh snap! I've done some digging and I think I may have found out where my bee baby story might have come from! Not Darkroom…not Tales From The Darkside…anyone remember Monsters? It was on in the late 80s early 90s. I think the episode I'm trying to remember is called "New York Honey". I'm having trouble finding a full synopsis so I'm still not 100% sure this is it. I did watch the intro to the series on YouTube and it brought back some nice childhood memories though.
mrcanacorn, I looked on imdb.com and found the episode titled "New York Honey" listed under the show Monsters: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0650858/ I use to watch Tales from the Darkside and Monsters. I think my favorite episode of Tales from the Darkside was "Anniversary Dinner". I vividly remember a woman in a hot tub getting liquored up by this old couple. As she gets plastered they begin adding vegetables to the hot tub. Apparently she is their anniversary meal. Does anyone else remember this?
@ mickster: I totally remember that Tales From the Darkside episode… it starred the great ALICE GHOSTLEY (a.k.a. Designing Women's Bernice!) Someone put the whole episode up on youtube in three parts if you're interested in revisiting that hot tub nightmare.
Thanks so much aunt john! I can't wait to watch it tonight!
