Hi, I know the “Name That Trauma” is usually about movies or TV, but there’s a book about ghosts I read as a kid that I’ve been trying to find for years and I thought someone might recognize what book I’m talking about. It was a book about “real" ghosts. It was blue and oversized and had a picture of a ghostly woman riding a carriage on the cover. She may have been holding her decapitated head or I may just be imagining that. It was titled something generic like “Ghosts” or “Hauntings” which has made it even harder to find. The format was kind of similar to those DK Eyewitness books for kids or the Time Life books on the supernatural. It was written before the mid ‘90s, because that’s when I discovered it at the library. Fingers crossed someone recognizes this!

Name That Trauma:: Zak B. On An Electrocuted Twin Sister
I have a movie that been stuck in my head since I was 4 or 5 (1989-1990) My sister and I had a babysitter and we were watching a really scary movie (maybe 70’s or 80’s) about (possibly) a twin sister in jail like facility and one gets electrocuted but she didn’t die, her body was hard and they hung her on a metal rack and put her in a dark closet. Another part is a mason jar with a skin from the head of a woman stuffed in and spinning on a record player in the middle of a locker room. Any ideas?
Name That Trauma:: Luis on a Home Intruder and a Beloved Decapitation
I need help with two movies that I watched as a child in the 1970s.
The first one is about a family who moves out of their house. The son appears to be against it or the parents die. He stays in the house alone. When the new owners move in, he takes refuge in a secret room underneath or behind a staircase. Eventually the owners realize that there is an intruder living among them. In the final scene, he is dragged away in handcuffs by the police.
The second is a movie about a mad scientist. Most of the time he out and about seeking victims or rather patients. The experiment is seemingly about placing a neck band on women. If they don't perform to his expectation it is tightened to the point of death, and, decapitation. The end is about his love interest being decapitated and how he expresses his utter loss by holding her head in his embrace. This movie was more along the lines of the Hammer production movies of the time.
Please let me if I dreamed this or if they are in fact worthy of rescreening.
— Luis
UNK SEZ: I've got you covered on the first one, Luis! That Intruder hiding in the house has got to be the Kindertrauma classic BAD RONALD ('74)! It's definitely worth re-screening and you can read a full review HERE! As for the second one involving the decapitated head, I'm confident one of our wise readers might know the answer to that one!
Name That Trauma: Devil Bob on Skeletal Remains
Hi.
I'm searching for a movie I watched as a little child by accident.
It was hard gore stuff and very unusual to be shown by a state sponsored
TV channel.
It was one scene I followed before freaking out and turning the
television off:
POV of an creature and/or animal in a forest. It follows an unaware guy.
Then it attacks, the guy is yelling and suffering. Then CUT TO: The guys
dead body, eaten till his bones from his neck on, head and face weren't
touched.
Anyone has a clue about the title following my description?

Name That Trauma:: Dom on a Skeletal Cheerleader
Hey-o. There was a film that scar(r)ed me as a kid. It was on TV in the early 90's. I only remember one image before I turned the channel. A man approaches a cheerleader from behind (or some girl dressed like a cheerleader). His hand touches her shoulder, she turns around, and her face is all spooky and bloody/skeletal. It's not Cheerleader Camp. Help!

Name That Trauma:: Found!
Unk Sez: Hey, check this awesomeness out! Many moons ago (I’m talking eleven years) we received a duel NTT (HERE) from the great & powerful Senski, one of which concerned a PSA on the danger of swimming pools…
“The second PSA I only saw once, but it left an indelible impression. This would be late '70s-early '80s, and it aired on CBS right before the 10pm news. It was all of ten or 15 seconds in length. Sunny day, camera in the trees, beginning a slow pan down and to the right. A radio announcer is carrying on about what a gorgeous day it is, ending with something along the lines of, "…so get outside and take a dip in that pool!" By then the camera has descended upon a swimming pool, with a long shot of a body lying face down in the water, motionless, presumably dead. The Voice of Doom then warns the audience about swimming alone or unattended. It was chilling to see a PSA with an actual body. I often wonder if it aired so infrequently because of viewer calls. It was as late as late could be and still fall within prime time.”
Now, all these years later and our old pal Daniel has unearthed Senski’s grim, never forgotten NTT (which you can view HERE)! How amazing is that? Eleven years! Thanks, Daniel for the reminder that it’s never too late to be revisited by a Kindertrauma!
Name That Trauma:: Meli K. on a Vengeful Gardener & a One Armed Infant
Hi!
I’m searching for a film where a wealthy man has an affair with his gardener’s daughter, the gardener discovers the affair, and chops off the arm of his employer, and then his grandchild is born with only one arm.
Would love any help!
Name That Trauma:: JDS on a Foggy Western Children's Book
Dearest Unkle,
when I was a kid (circa 1993) I had a spooky children's book that I'd like to describe to you to see if anyone can name it so i can locate a copy
It was a western. The town had the word "Gultch" in it which I think may have also been in the title. There was a fog so thick in the town I believe the narrator says you could hammer a nail into it and hang a picture. Someone spooky comes to town, a tall Frankenstein's monster looking character and something spooky happens.
That's all I can remember. I've searched for spooky children's books online, books with the word "Gultch" in the title, books about fog.
I come up with nothing.
Can your readers offer any help??
Thanks

My Kindertrauma:: Dittimus Rex on a Kerosene Monster PSA
I recently came across this PSA or PIF as it’s known In it’s country of origin, about a gas leak in a kerosene tank looking for a way out until it find an opening.
It pours out into the living room and when the resident turns on the heater, BOOM.
I was curious how many people from Britain remembered the ad and how it effected them as children.
Here are some pictures from the ad along with a sculpture I did of the main antagonist.
Enjoy. Big fan of your site

Name That Trauma:: G. Trout on Black Eyed Fire Safety Children
I remember a PSA from the 70s which involved a woman presenting two children with a tray of matches, a silver platter as a matter of fact. The narration said something like ‘don’t leave matches where kids can find them , it’s like handing them to them on a platter’
The utterly creepy thing I remember is for some reason, I don't know if it was the film stock or the poor photography but the two kids seemed to have black eyes liked the fabled black eye children. I also remember the source noise being particularly loud.
I was sitting on the floor at a friends house with his parents in the basement on a weekend. Probably watching Hee Haw or something. When the ad concluded the room was stricken with dead silence.
I’ve scoured YouTube and the like for this and was wondering if you or your evil minions have ever heard about this?
