Yes, I was one of those kids that hated clowns and would throw a blanket over the face of the stuffed clown I owned in my childhood, not unlike the boy in Poltergeist. To this very day, Clowns fill me with queasy dread and the piece above reminds me of that, the frozen , delirious smile and what may lurk behind. There's a decrepit youthfulness to this clown that conjures up all sorts of thoughts…the fingers as arms are a nice touch and perhaps suggest that lingering echo of childhood memory. Whoa.
