I love the first half of It. It's SO scary. The second half is alright, but really that first part… and the cast! I should really re-watch this, it's been years!
I vote a great big 'Meh'! This mini-series stunk. Other than Tim Curry's great evil clown (who's only on-screen for a few minutes) the rest of the cast floundered with hackneyed dialog and genuinely bad acting. It had John Ritter, Annette O'Toole, Tim Reid, Harry Anderson etc. but they were all embarrassingly bad! And the big finale? A stupid giant spider?! Come on…
I agree that the second half of this miniseries is pretty lame. Still, the gutter scene is a great, scary "moment". Last I heard they were remaking this. I think they should drop the second half and maybe cast Rosie O'Donnel as Pennywise. (har!)

Well, but the thing is that the giant spider was SUPPOSED to be kind of lame. Or, anyway, it was supposed to be less scary than Pennywise or any of the other things you see. The book was written that way.
That said, the second half still kind of stunk. But I don't know how much of that was because of execution and how much of it was because the book just couldn't translate well–particularly into a TV miniseries.

That would be SO MUCH more disturbing without the razor teeth. Â In fact, the whole story should just have been about a clown who lived in a sewer AND LIKED IT. Â Making Pennywise some kind of inhuman thingamabob just decreases the weirdness. Â Just like The Stand is less impressive when you figure out some of the characters just plain aren't mortals.

This is my sons favorite movie. He's two!!! But hes laying next to me watching it right now…I've seen it a hundred times and the shower scene still gets me. I agree, the second half of the movie is lame. Still for being a tv movie, its not that bad.
I still cannot pass a storm drain slowly, I have to run!
Now this is stuck in my head.
Classic!Â
