UNK SEZ: I don't know what's going on in your neck of the woods but around these parts today marks the day that TUCKER & DALE VS. EVIL finally opens. To celebrate the fact that something is playing at the movie theater that looks good enough to get me out of the house, I have assembled this here post! Below are ten images from ten films. They may not necessarily be movies ABOUT hillbillies but they at least have a hillbilly(+ish) character or two within them. Good luck, have fun and make sure you check out the trailer for TUCKER & DALE below and the official site HERE too!
Well, put out the catch-barrel, Mama, 'cause Junior's gone a-streakin'! I'd say that nummer one is our ol' pal Steve King in Creepshow, an' nummer five is that gosh-durn Just Before Dawn! N' hyugh hyugh hyugh, nummer seven jus gotta be Punkinhead!
2 Cabin Fever?
6 Hills Have Eyes?
#1 is definitely Creepshow…
#3 is Leatherface TCM 3
#5 is Just before Dawn
#9 looks like Friday the 13th remake
Well Paisley you beat to two of em,,,durn y'all.
Oddly, "Tucker & Dale" was on one of my cable stations a couple of nights ago – I think it's called HD Movies or something. The sometimes do this – broadcast an opening indie flick for a night – I recall that they did this with "The Troll Hunter" too. I have no idea how the studio allows this to happen – they must get some good dough for it, but I also don't know what the HD Movies channel gets from it as I never know about these "stealth premiers" unless I happen to stumble on them.
Let us traumaniacs know what you thought of it!
Ha! I thought #1 was Eaten Alive, but I'm sure it's probably Creepshow.
Is #2 Screams of a Winters Night?
Just a guess, is #7 Pumpkinhead?
Whoops! Walker already got #7…
OK, think I'm done!
I watched Tucker & Dale on iTunes about a month ago. I thought it was just okay…The two leads are great and make a great team, but I thought the joke had worn pretty thin by about halfway through it. I feel like if I didn't know anything about it going in I would have liked it a lot more.
The only one I'm absolutely positive about is #8. This picture is definitely from I Spit on Your Grave, AKA Day of the Woman. I can't remember the character's name, but he works at a gas station and, if memory serves, is the most violent rapist. God, I need to watch more hillbilly movies!
2 is Deliverance?
I guessed 2 and 8 but not fast enough. Number 4 is Eaten Alive. I love that movie. Is number one Creepshow?
I really really hope that #10 is MOTHER'S DAY. It better be!
What is number 4? It's killing me, I have it someone in the back of my brain.
If #9 isn't from one of my absolute favorite movies ever, Wrong Turn, then you can spank my ass and call me Beverly.
I'm finally back with the answers! Sorry it took so long.
We went to the movies then stopped to see friends and then remembered it was Kindertrauma's fourth anniversary and decided that called for barhopping…
At some point yesterday turned into today…
So here goes…you guys done good….
1 CREEPSHOW
2 CABIN FEVER
3 LEATHERFACE
4 EATEN ALIVE
5 JUST BEFORE DAWN
6 THE HILLS HAVE EYES
7 PUMKINHEAD
8 I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE
9 WRONG TURN
10 MOTEL HELL
So we did enjoy T&D VS EVIL! I agree with Taylor that the initial joke looses steam about half way through but I think the cast is likable enough to carry the film to the end. We laughed a lot. If it's not playing near you it might be "on demand" instead. If you're into horror comedies I say check it out. I already knew I liked Alan Tudyk but Tyler Labine & Katrina Bowden were so good in this too.
