Hey, I put a mini questionnaire together that I'm hoping that many of you will take part in. That's the title up there "It's a Horror to Know You." To provide an example I will now fill out the inaugural questionnaire myself (cracks knuckles)…
It's a Horror to Know You: Unkle Lancifer of Kindertrauma!
(I know, you're already here but if someone else filled this out than this is where I'd link to their blog or website. If their name was Bianca Butters and they just wrote a book called Hell Flea, then it would say; It's a Horror to Know You: Bianca Butters author of Hell Flea! And I'd link to the official Hell Flea page.)
1. What is the first film that ever scared you?
My first experience with real terror was thanks to the T.V. movie "Satan's Triangle." I also distinctly recall being freaked out by Marjoe Gortner in "Earthquake" and catching a few too many moments of "The Omen" on cable while at a friend's house.
2. What is the last film that scared you?
"Martyrs" threw me for a loop, the ending of "Eden Lake" felt like a pile of cinder blocks falling on my head and the opening credits of "Irreversible" made me want to run out of the movie theater before the film even started.
(Those questions could have been answered with singular movie titles but I'm feeling gabby.)
3. Name three Horror movies that you believe are underrated.
1. "Blood and Lace" (1971) I say all slasher movies owe this one a beer!
2. "Brotherhood of Satan" (1971) Hokey but brilliant with a super eerie vibe.
3. Dear Dead Delilah (1972) So unique, atmospheric and ahead of its time gore-happy!
Honorable mention: "The Perfume of the Lady in Black" (1974). Oh, and "Pin" (1988)! "Pin" is so great and I should remember to say so more often.
(Notice how I threw in "honorable mentions" to squeeze in extra picks? Another great trick if you want to do that is to declare a tie between two movies!)
4. Name three horror movies that you enjoy against your better judgment.
(We're talking about guilty pleasures here but I refuse to use that term because you should never feel guilty about enjoying a movie.)
1. "Cathy's Curse" (1977) Because it hurts my head and is a fascinating mess.
2. "Shriek of the Mutilated" I'm sort of in love with the monster.
3. "Black Christmas" (remake) I have a thing for Christmas horror movies and this one rises further up my favorites list with each passing year. I never said I was deep.
5. Send us to five places on the Internet! (Include the URLs!)
1. Fascination With Fear. Where the quietest and loudest horrors collide!
2. Too Much Horror Fiction. I can look at horror paperback covers all day.
3. Freddy in Space. Unmatched horror enthusiasm by the truckload.
4. Horror Digest. Andre sees with fresh eyes and never fails to crack me up.
5. Dinner with Max Jenke. Because Jeff Allard rules.
So that's it! That was simple! Hopefully we've learned a little about this person (who is in this case, me), have gained a few movie titles that we might investigate further and have some websites to explore. Nothing wrong with all that! If you'd like to play along you don't have to have a blog or anything to pimp, you can just answer these questions and we'll post your responses. If you do have something to promote just remember to tell us about it!
Also, if you should get tagged in that last question, please don't feel you have to play along if you don't want to. This is just about gathering info from those who want to participate. All those who are game just answer the five questions and send the results to Kindertrauma@gmail.com. I promise it will be borderline fun if you do and remember, it's a horror to know you too!
NOTE: The questions sans answers are in the comments section for easy copying!

Yay! I'm gonna do it! But it might take me a little while to get my shit together, as per usual.
Will do!
What a great idea! Super, thanks for asking.
Cmcmcmcm, Ryne B and Erin L,
Cool! I'm so glad you guys are up for this! I'm most excited to read the answers for the "3 underrated horror movies" question! I'm hoping to get some ideas about what to watch next from this survey!
Chuckles72,
If you don't see your comment approved here it is because I am going to publish your reply in a separate post! GREAT answers by the way! Can't wait to post it!
Yeah – I realized that I goofed and sent it via email. Just delete the post or whatever….
Jaakko,
I'm holding on to your response too! I'm going to save it for a separate front page post of it's own so it won't get lost in the comment section!
Remember folks don't comment here send your answers to Kindertrauma@gmail.com!
That way we can give it a more prominent presentation and illustrate it for you too!:)
Chuckles72, we'll have yours up soon too!
Oh, okay. I missed that part, sorry.
No prob Jaako! And thanks for the horror game recommendations! Those are awesome. 🙂
I want to play too! But I can't think of five websites :(. Are we allowed to omit a question, or does that break the rules?
Lottie,
That's absolutely fine! All questions are optional and if you want to squeeze in a few extra answers like I did that's cool too!
Yay! You'll be hearing from me soon.
Unk–I hope you're going to re-review the remake of BLACK CHRISTMAS sometime soon (it seems to be growing on you). I'm in awe of how such a gross-out horror film made in the age of torture porn is able to rely on old-fashion bad taste and woderful sickness WITHOUT being torture porn. It deserves another shout out for that reason alone.
Craig,
I did do a re-review of Black Christmas here…
https://www.kindertrauma.com/?p=25960
But you're right, I may have to do another, less apologetic, review now that the truth is out in the open! The decapitated head mounted on the top of the Christmas tree alone deserves some respect!
Anybody else getting a "malware detected" warning form the "retro slashers" site? Anything that I should be worried about on there?
Give me about a day. It will be a bit hard to post website links as most of my visits are comedy based. Oh, I'll post FILMS seen either on the big screen or on TV. No creepy TV commercial stuff.
Definitely gonna give this a go this weekend. Great idea sir!
Chuckles,
I'm not getting that warning. I know RS had a hacker a while back so maybe it has something to do with that. I sent an email to Amanda By Night who writes there and she"ll get to the bottom of this!
TheMike,
Excellent! Looking forward to your answers!
Father o' Tears,
Looking forward to yours too!
Chuckles,
I took down the RS link until I learn more about what's going down over there. I replaced it with Dinner With max Jenke because I was mad at myself all day for forgetting to put DWMJ up there in the first place!
OH. Neat. I'll be sending in my own in a few. I am hardly on the "expert" side of things here, and I doubt I could fill out five slots for websites, but nonetheless I LOVE answering questionnaires about my interests, so this oughta be fun. Can't wait to read what everyone else thinks.
Sent mine!
Ahhh! I'm just seeing this now (had a rough weekend, mind you) and I have to express my gratitude for your graciousness in mentioning FWF! Whoop! You know you guys are close to my heart!
I'll definitely be playing this game, you can count on it. Do you want my answers sent to you or do I put them on my own blog? (forgive me, it's late and I have toothpicks holding my eyelids open!)
Love your answers and you've given me a few suggestions I have yet to see! Yay!
~much love. x
Thanks, Unk, for mentioning Too Much Horror Fiction – I aims to please!
Ahhh I'm back from the dead and like Chris saw this late. Thank you a million and one times over L , I am flattered! And LOVE these horror to know yous.
