O.K., so maybe she didn't star in any horror movies, but she was best buds with Kinder-babe ADRIENNE BARBEAU. Today the flags above Kindertrauma Castle fly at half mass. Fly away BEA, you were anything but tranquilizing!

This is nice. Bea was my hero and she reminded me a lot of my mom, so this was kind of a hard loss for me. Maybe that sounds weird, but it's true.
I had the pleasure of seeing Bea Arthur's one woman show three times, and got to even meet her once. What did she say to me? "Amanda is my favorite name!" And I could have cried.
I just love her.
Thanks for this post.
Amanda, that such a sweet story!
I just love the Golden Girls, so this makes me sad.
Didn't star in any horror movies!? Did you forget about the Star Wars Holiday Special?
If so, lucky you, because I've been trying to for 30 years. Â 🙂
I loved Bea in Maude, but my favorite role of hers is still her cameo in Futurama, as the evil FemPuter, ruler of the Amazons.
Maude always reminded me of my Aunt Sharon … the perfect relative for a little gay boy stuck in the suburbs back in the 70's. Aunt Sharon passed away a few years back, and now she and Bea are having strong cocktails and debating politics in a shag-carpeted cloud somewhere.
RIP Ms. Arthur. Thanks for the laughs.
Right on, Maude!Â
I have loved this woman since she gave Archie Bunker some much-needed hell in the early '70s, and she socked it to America afterward with "Maude" and "The Golden Girls."Â
I miss her so much, but she left quite a few reminders of her caustic charm.
