We here at Kindertrauma are usually perfectly happy hiding our nightlight under a bushel, but something this cool we just have to share. It turns out our little corner of the World Wide Web is featured in this month's issue of GEEK MONTHLY. In fact, our name can be seen right there smack on the cover! How exciting is that? The greatest part of the whole thing is all the incredible people who are in this issue that we get to rub imaginary shoulders with. I'm talking long-time heroes MST3K's JOEL HODGEN & TV'S FRANK, (I get chills writing this next one) ginger-haired BUFFY alum FELICIA DAY, who has been in the same room with GOD as far as I'm concerned, real live Canadians THE KIDS IN THE FRICKIN' HALL, the always welcome to stop by Kindertrauma Castle whenever the hell he pleases HART BOCHNER (a.k.a. SUPERGIRL's boyfriend!), and look, that's Mr. GREG KINNEAR on the cover! Have I ever mentioned that I've devoted my life to defending STUCK ON YOU and can quote lines of dialogue from the film, a favorite being when EVA MENDES says "I love it when famous people don't turn out to be dick-wads!"? (Wait, isn't that a MORRISSEY song too?) Wow, this name dropping thing is a blast, I gotta do it more often. Who else we got, oh, they review the remake of THE WIZARD OF GORE. That means CRISPEN GLOVER a.k.a Jingle Dell, is now kinda sorta our new best friend too! I guess I don't have to point out at this point that we are super honored and super giddy about this. We wouldn't do Kindertrauma if it wasn't fun and it wouldn't be fun without you guys, so a big thanks to our readers for making a development like this possible! Now, go buy a hundred issues of GEEK MONTHLY!
NOTE: Since this will probably be my last chance to talk about STUCK ON YOU, do you know about this weird thing in the opening credits which is way more amazing then the not real THREE MEN AND A BABY GHOST? Can you see that scary face under the bed? It appears just as THE PIXIES, on the soundtrack, get to the line "face turn blue" in "Here Comes Your Man"…
On the DVD commentary THE FARRELLY BROTHERS say that it may be some sports equipment or just the way the light hits some dust, but they don't sound too convinced and frankly, neither am I! Finally here is cinematic evidence of what kids have been trying to convince their parents of for hundreds of years, there really is something under the bed!
CONGRATULATIONS! How incredibly awesome is that? Is it an article with an interview?
You've come a long way, kids!
btw, I used to help TV's Frank all the time at a bookstore I worked at. Really nice guy. OK, that's the closest to fame, I'll ever get… so let me have it! 🙂
Hot Damn! Way to go, guys – that's just flat-out cool. Congratulations!!
Amanda,
Yep it's an article and interview plus a nice pic of the old Kindertrauma clown. The editor of Geek Monthly Jeff Bond also shares a bunch of his Kindertraumas so it's a must read!
It's so kinder-licious, I can barely stand it.
I will say I knew you when! 🙂
Keep it up, it's so awesome. I'm truly happy for you!!!
That is fantastic – those are some of my favorite geeks! Â
You don't have to defend STUCK ON YOU to me. Â That's high on my list of most underrated flicks. Â And even if you don't like the movie and find Greg Kinnear generally annoying (as many seem to for some reason) his Ted Koppel is so jaw-droppingly good, you have give him that at least.
Amanda, can I touch the hem of your garment and soak up some 2nd hand Frank rays?  I always thought he should've replaced Joel on the SoL.  At least we now have Cinematic Titanic which I can attest is quite good.
Sbd,
Thanks for that great link. Another Kinnear film that I think is hugely underrated is NURSE BETTY. It may look like a typical romantic comedy but most of the humor in it is pitch black. I think it caught a lot of people off guard but it cracks me the hell up.
"…I have to do this or he'll die! It's OK, I've seen it done once."
Unkle Lancifer and Aunt John, How exciting! I must go out today to buy a copy! Definitely something to be proud of!
First of all, Nurse Betty is INCREDIBLE. Loved it. I agree about it not being what you think it's going to be, yet if you like romantic comedies, it doesn't veer that far off of the core of those films, and I think just about anyone, whether you have dark humor or not, can really enjoy it. That was the longest sentence ever. I wish they made more films like those. You know, surprising and thoughtful and entertaining. I know, in a perfect world…
As for Greg Kinnear, he's always good even when the material isn't. Take the godawful Godsend for instance. I think he's great. And cute too! There, I said it.
OK, now if I may tell some TV's Frank tales (cuz it's all I got you know), I never actually said I recognized him, but my boyfriend at the time, who also worked there, would go up to him and say "Hey, there's this girl here who loves Nummy Muffin Coco Butter," and he'd sing that part:
"There's no udder, Nummy Muffin Coco Butter"
And TV's Frank would always say, "which girl is that?" He was actually pretty friendly with my ex. So friendly in fact, he gave him a buch of Duke Ellington CDs when he got the box set.
SO, when he got the Duke Ellington box set, it was all expensive and I was ringing him up and I said "I hope you get one of Duke's fingers with this," and he laughed. I thought to myself "I MADE TV'S FRANK LAUGH!" And I felt like I belonged. He was always really nice and a pleasure to help.
So, this other girl I worked with loved him too and one day he came in the store and she asked him for his autograph and she was really nervous, I mean she was blushing so hard I thought her face would explode, and he couldn't have been more gracious and sweet about the whole thing. That's important to fans, and she was quite young and it just kind of warmed my heart all over th joint.
Also, Albert Brooks used to come in and I'd follow him around the store. Also Dave Foley. My co-worker actually sang the Creepy Girl song from MST3K to me!
Alright, now that's off my chest, back to the matter at hand and the guys of the hour! I'm still so thrilled about this. It's such a big deal and so deserved!
As you were.
That's certainly worth a 5 SC rating in my book, boys! Congrats on being so fucking awesome…but you already knew that about yourselves!
Amanda,
I love that story and now I want to marry Lori Singer too. I mean, she was in Warlock!!!
Put up your dukes!Â
btw, is she dating Alec Baldwin:

I could die!
Amanda,
Thanks for that link! Lori looks amazing. Alec Baldwin? How are we going to compete?!
Note to Lori Singer: If you don't wanna go to Fist City, you better detour 'round the Kindertrauma Castle.
Lori,
Ignore that last comment. A.J is in curlers and asleep by nine. If you access the old well in back of the castle, you'll find a secret passage way that goes directly to my private study. I'll be wearing a Phantom of the opera mask to hide my inevitable facial tic!
Oh snap! You know when Auntie starts quoting Loretta Lynn (my all time favorite of her songs by the way) there's gonna' be some trouble!
Um, Unk…I own 3 different Fame Lps. The OST, The Kids From Fame, and Songs From The Kids From Fame. The rating stands! I dedicate this one to you boys:

And remember, Lori Singer:
"If you get too cute or witty
You better move your feet
If you don't wanna eat
A meal that's called fist city"
Yikes, our maid Abigail Cronepipe just informed me that there is a rolling pin missing from the pantry…
Mr Canacorn, this new wave smash is dedicated to you…(watch Lori get down!)
Mazel Tov!
Mr Canacorn,
If you have all three fame albums then you will appreciate this. Picture it, Budget video, philadelphia Pa. circa 1990. I'm working at a tiny hole in the wall video store when in walks Carol Mayo Jenkins (Mrs. Sherwood!!!!!!!!) and she wants to rent a VCR! I was like" You're Carol Mayo Jenkins!" and then told her I loved her work. (no facial tic.) She was polite but I could tell she was a bit freaked out to meet a psycho like me when she just wanted to rent a VCR and is probably used to relative anonymity. It turns out that she was in town for a play and she did indeed return her VCR on time as far as I know.
@Corey Convex: To quote another country goddess (TAMMY WYNETTE), "Success," (apparently) "has made a failure of our home."
@unkle: Don't wait up for me, I've accepted a dinner invite from VALERIE LANDSBURG (a.k.a. FAME's Doris Schwartz). And you know how I love my unlimited breadsticks at the Olive Garden…
Side note to DEBBIE ALLEN: Any time you wanna kick it leg-warmers and jazz-hands stizz… holla at your aunt john!
Yah! Kindertrauma iz a STAR-AH! WOO-HOO!
Is this the most commented on thread in Kindertrauma history. If so, I want in……
Uh…not to sound too gay or nuthin', but I'd love for Debbie to come over to Awesomeness and do a little of this for me and The Wife:
It's not gay until Bob Hope and Rock Hudson show up with martinis and start getting freaky!
Unk, I sure hope you've made nice with Aunt J and didn't get clubbed in the head with the missing rolling pin.
I would drink Greg Kinnear's bath water
Don't know how I missed this, but…WOW! Very, very cool. Can't wait to check out the interview! Congrats with a capital "C"!!!
Unk and Aunt, When does this issue come out? I checked three different places on my way home today and couldn't find it. They still had the Simon Pegg cover at one place. I am anxious to read it.
@mickster: It's the October issue, so it should be hitting newsstands pretty soon.
