OMG, this Funhouse is insanely tough (at least for this good Dr.). I'm out. I'll be in the bar if you need me.

Some wild guesses here: Is #5 "This House Possessed?" And #8 reminds me of Karen Black's apartment in the third segment of "Trilogy of Terror." I like the "interiors" theme!

A masterful bit of trolling, here. I feel like I know some of these, but nothing's clicking. I'm gonna feel so dumb when the answers are posted, I just know it.

12.) The Lost Boys (1987)
It was all the distinctive shots of Barnard Hughes' grandpa character in the sunlit kitchen that helped me get this one.

I thought #5 looked like This House Possessed too Treecat.
Like Jon said, some seem familiar…
Is #1 Jaws ?

I have the vague thought that #1 is Poltergeist. Wow, this is tough.

Hey y'all, sorry I took so long responding!
Due to a herniated disk that left me on the couch a lot, I became a HGTV addict. So now whenever I watch one of my favorite movies, I start picking out rooms that need to be renovated. That is where the idea for this particular Funhouse came from.
This was difficult to obtain screenshots for because I did not want any characters in frame to give it away. Here are the correct guesses so far…
#1-Matt Sunshine picked out this kitchen in desperate need of an upgrade in Jaws (1975).
#5-Treecat and Matt Sunshine identified this ultramodern indoor swimming pool from This House Possessed (1981). A trend I noticed in a lot of 80s movies are houses with WAY too many plants inside. Other than that issue, this indoor is still cool…if it doesn't decide to kill you…
#9-Caffeinated Joe recognized the entryway, staircase, and out of style sunken living room from Gremlins (1984). Hopefully, Mrs. Peltzer requested a renovation after the gremlins tore up their house!
#12-ChiefferSutherbong recognized the kitchen of the coolest Grandpa in cinematic history from The Lost Boys (1987). Grandpa was cool, but his poor kitchen was out of date even by 1987 standards!
Keep guessing on the others. I will give hints in a bit.

#7 looks like it might be the bathroom where Andrew Stevens terrorized Morgan Fairchild in 1982's "The Seduction"!

Wow. Apart from mickster confirming our guesses there hasn't been any movement forward.
Could #10 be Fright Night (1985) ?
Man, #2 #3 and #11 are really bugging me.

#7 mhenders is correct at identifying Morgan Fairchild's ensuite bathroom from The Seduction (1982). This odd setup made me start thinking about renovations in horror movie homes. Why does Morgan have SO many plants in her bedroom/bathroom? Weird!
#10 Matt Sunshine recognizes Judy Brewster's master bedroom that is in desperate need of an update in Fright Night (1985).
Okay, now for some hints…
#2 involves a high rise apartment with stalking problem for a gap toothed beauty.
#3 involves a fish out of water genius hunting down a serial killer.
#4 involves a night where everything is all right.
#6 involves the kind of problems one does not expect in a brand new subdivision.
#8 involves a relentless killer determined to finish off the strong willed woman he attacked in her home.
#11 while The Lost Boys has the coolest Grandpa in cinematic history, this movie boasts the greatest Uncle even though he is a drunk.

#2-Matt Sunshine is correct with Lauren Hutton's apartment in Someone's Watching Me! (1978)
And mhenders guessed correctly with #3, #4, #6, #8, and #11!
3-Amy Robbins'(Mary Steenburgen) pad in Time After Time (1979).
4-Everything is NOT all right over at Kim Hammond's (Jamie Lee Curtis) house in Prom Night (1980).
6-The Freeling's were NOT counting on Poltergeist (1982) taking their daughter (and completely destroying their home).
8-I really wanted a screenshot of Sheila Munroe's (Linda Purl) lazy Susan closet in Visiting Hours (1982), but she was in frame the whole time!
11-Uncle Red (Gary Busey) is the greatest drunk uncle of all time. He even stays up late to help the kids snag that pesky werewolf preacher in Silver Bullet (1985).

Oops! Thanks for everyone playing today! I had fun picking the interior shots and imagining one of the HGTV crews giving the homes a modern update!

Wow this was a tough one! I'm never very good at these Funhouse quizzes anyway but with no other visual clues I even missed personal favorites like Poltergeist and Prom Night. I only recognized the Gremlins living room. Nicely done, mickster! And good work everyone who recognized these!
#9 is Gremlins!
