It's another special Friday with another super duper love trooper guest host! Today we are happy to present the lovely and multi-talented TENEBROUS KATE of the ever fascinating and informative LOVE TRAIN FOR THE TENEBROUS EMPIRE! Kate has selected ten groovy screenshots which are truly and indubitably the cat's pajamas. Kate will be on hand to catch your fall if you should stumble so let the Funhouse shenanigans commence!
By the by, as an incentive today's winner will receive the worth zero dollars "Virtual Muttley Medal" which is a special secret surprise!!!
#6: Tales From the Darkside; The Movie (?)
#7: The Gore Gore Girls.
That's all I got.
Chris has NAILED number 7! Â Bravo.
6, alas, is cold  🙁
Haha! I was going to say I thought #7 was the Gore Gore Girls. It's the only one I think I recognize. Except #4 looks like Jim Van Bebber! I know it's not, but still…
Is #4 "The Legacy"?
#6–Your Vice is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key
9–Vengeance of the Zombies!
Vicar chiming in for TWO correct answers!  Molto bene, fellow trashfan  😉
Amanda, he does have a Bebber-ish look to him, doesn't he? Â But yes–this is from pre-Bebber-times.
Sorry, Phil! Â But that's a very fine catfilm indeed.
Is #5 from Herzog's Nosferatu?
3: The Uncanny
4: Night of 1000 Cats
Those are both total guesses, but those movies have to be in here somewhere!
Binrow, you are SO in the right area code–very, VERY close!
Walter gets number 4 on the NOSE! That's non-"Basterd" Hugo Stiglitz with one of his feline co-stars. Â 3 is not it (but that's another fab "death by cats" film!).
3 – Inferno?
Well I do believe #5 is SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE?
Luki gets 3 and Andre gets 5. Â Nicely done!
1, 2, 8 and 10 remain unidentified. Â Who's going to be the uber-guesser/knower of things?
Is #1 Cat's Eye? Nah, probably too obvious.
long shot but is 8 the spiral staircase?
is  #10 Tomb of Ligeia?
Sorry, guys–awesome guesses all round, but no.
OK kiddos–I'm'a start dropping hints now  🙂
Unk, 10 is not a Poe adaptation, BUT it is an adaptation of a work by another, different Decadent author.
Hmmm. What about this meow-meow?
Damn, I should have got the Black Cat one, it's my favorite Lucio Fulci movie. If anyone sees the new horror movie Dark House, see if you can pick out the Black Cat reference! Hint: there's no cat. I couldn't believe I guess it myself, but it's there!
No no! Â No "Black Cat," alas–though "Your Vice Is a Locked Room…" , which the Vicar guessed above, is an adaptation of that story.
No "cat" in any of the titles, though there's a critter in the title of 1. Â Also, 2 and 8 are by the same director.
Wow, is that young Jess Franco on pic #2? Don't know the movie, though.
Yes, that's Uncle Jess. Â Jaakko is on the right track!
is it 'succubus' or 'venus in furs'?
8 has been gotten! Â Yay!!! Â And you're right in the correct naming convention with your #2 guess…
I was unclear (as I am–oops)–#8 is "Awful Dr. Orloff"
2= Diabolical Dr .Z!
Yep, #3 is "Inferno" where Daria Nicolodi has cats thrown at her!
We have a #2 winner!
FatherOfTears–that's the scene exactly! Â Everybody talks about the beautifully designed Bava underwater sequence in "Inferno," but my most-remembered moment is the great cat-tossing death.
1 and 10 remain unguessed thus far! Â Any takers, or shall there be more hinting?
I need some major hintage
We still have our Muttley prize to give away!
Â
Â
Both 1 and 10 have been reviewed on my blog, for those who care to peek!
Okey smokes, here begins the hintage… the beastie that makes up part of the title of the film in 1 has twice as many legs as a cat *ought* to have.
The author of the book on which 10 is based could be said to be part of the Wilde kingdom (too easy?).
Â
Yup! Â 10 is the 1970 Italian production of "Dorian Gray" (which is filled with psychedelic excellence, FYI).
The elusive 1 is "Black Belly of the Tarantula"–that cat gets more screen time and is more fully-fleshed as a character than most of the protagonists, I think  🙂
In review:
1 – Black Belly of the Tarantula
2 – Diabolical Dr. Z
3- Inferno
4- Night of 1000 Cats
5 – Shadow of the Vampire
6 – Your Vice is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key
7 – Gore Gore Girls
8 – Awful Dr. Orloff
9 – Vengeance of the Zombies
10 – Dorian Gray
Thanks for hosting me, Unk and Auntie! Â And cheers to everybody for playing along! Â I had a blast and hope I haven't sullied the good name of Kindertrauma Kastle too terribly much.
Black Belly of the Tarantula! I should have known that one!
I'd like to see a Toonces episode directed by Lucio Fulci.
There is an episode in the Emma Peel era of "The Avengers" where people are killed by killer cats.
