Hello there!
Maybe you can help me out with this one-I only remember this from an afternoon TV preview commercial for an upcoming horror movie they were going to be showing on TV and the part that sticks with me is a woman in a movie theater going to wake up her friend and discovering blood (I Think) and that her friend is dead and she starts to scream. I always had it in my head that it was "He Knows You're Alone" but now I'm not so sure.
Thanks for any help!

HE KNOWS YOU'RE ALONE would be my first guess too. I also thought of ANGUISH ('87) or maybe even THE BLOB ('88) for movie theater death scenes. Both are very much worth watching in any case!
I love Anguish! When I attended a Dismember the Alamo event back in October, Anguish was one of the surprise films.
Aside from Anguish and He Knows You’re Alone, Demons comes to mind.
Reminds me of Foul Play (1978). Check the scene early in the film with Goldie Hawn at the movie theater.
The movie had a really strange tone with a mix of gags and murder.
