Dear Kindertrauma,
I have been searching far and wide (meaning the Internet) for this scary movie that I watched at a sleepover a long time ago. I must have been in fourth grade so it must have been around 2005. It's hard to explain it but I'll do my best.
Okay, so there are these three (or four?) girls, all friends, all with different fears. I know one of the girls has a fear of bugs and another has some fear of her skin peeling or something because there is this one scene where she's feeling her back and she turns around to look in the mirror and her skin is just peeling off. The other girl with the fear of bugs is in the bathroom and when she turns on the shower, bugs come crawling up from every drain (bathtub, sink, toilet). I feel like maybe these girls did something bitchy to have this happen to them but I'm not quite sure. I really really want to see this movie again but I can't find it anywhere, please help!!
Neither quite fits but I keep thinking of "The Craft" and "Urban Legends 3: Bloody mary"
I keep thinking "The Craft" too for the skin peeling…
Defo The Craft. As well as skin peeling scene (with Neve Campbell), there also features a scene with bugs/snakes pouring out of drains/taps etc near the end (though Robin Tunney's character doesn't specifically have a fear of bugs if I remember correctly). Great movie!
And there's some major bug action in The Craft.
I just don't remember them coming out of a drain.
Man, I love this movie. Fairuza Balk rules.
Sorry I posted before I saw your comment Sam!
I think it's gotta be it too. Even if it doesn't fit the description exactly.
By all accounts I should not like The Craft. The plot is largely silly – some high school girls use wiccan-style witchcraft to change their hair color and enchant boys to like them. The final girl is a dud and what the Hell is going on with Neve Campbell's character?
But Fairuza Balk makes it all interesting. She brings the crazy. She's somehow over-the-top and genuinely menacing at the same time. She's also textbook "ugly sexy" and it hard to keep your eyes off her.
Chuckles,
I agree. It's hard to imagine The Craft without Balk. She's like a supernatural force herself. If anybody else played that part I think the movie would have greatly suffered. I just ordered a copy from Amazon so we'll have a post all about the Craft and Balk soon!
Love me a little Balk. Completely (and brilliantly) insane. The craft is essentially popcorn enetertainment with a dark streak (in the aforementioned actress). Shame things didn't take off for her after this…
Here is an email confirmation from Emily…
"I watched The Craft on Youtube and it is definitely the movie. Thank you so much!!"
