Hi. I discovered Kindertrauma about a month ago and I'm hooked. Awesome site. I'm wondering if you might know of the short film that scared to me death when I was about eight or nine years old, in the late nineties. I thought it might be called "Monster in my Closet" but evidently I'm wrong. It was a short movie for kids (maybe on the Disney Channel?) about a kid that discovers a large monster with a cartoon-ish face in his closet.
At one point, his mom opens the closet door to show him there is nothing there, and when she turns the light back out and turns to face him, the monster's eyes can be seen in the open closet behind her, blinking. If you know the name of this movie, I would love to see it again. Love your site!!

Not sure about the "cartoonish face" aspect, but otherwise sounds like a season 2 episode of "Tales from the Darkside" called "Monsters In My Room", in which a young Seth Green deals with various monsters hiding in his closet and under his bed, one of which (resembling an octopus) blinks its glowing eyes.
I found several clips on You Tube, including this one:
Little Monsters was the first thing that came to my mind:
The monster comes from under the bed but I vaguely remember him hiding throughout the room.
Reader Deb agrees with Brother Bill, and emailed this:
i've been looking for this movie for a long time… i saw it in kindegarten class and it was terrifying. it isn't the TftD episode though. the eyes were bigger and more cartoonish. there was also a scene with the monster's three toed feet at the bottom of the closet and it had a really creepy laugh.
i think it was based off of a children's book. but seriously, if anyone finds this, it would be amazing!
no – wait. this is "there's a nightmare in my closet" based on a mercer mayer book. they only have a first minute and a bit on youtube, but it s a short 14 minute film. it scared the crap out of me when i saw it in kindegarten class!
here is the clip!
