I was discussing horror films with a friend and he remembered a movie, but no title. He said:
"I remember the main character (a woman) having flash-forward dreams of her walking out of a church pissed off with overlapping talking, a mirror that was painted over and the devil or a demon was inside, and she removes the paint and lets him out of the mirror. A guy is talking to some people on the second floor of the building – but it's not him, it's the devil/demon animating him because his head falls off and he's filled with cockroaches, and to try and kill the devil she jumps into the mirror at the end, and she's suspended in mid-air and then the flash-forward scene is the end, and it's a reporter talking."
Being a loyal fan, I told him the wonderful guys at Kindertrauma might be able to help!
UPDATE: NAME THAT TRAUMA SOLVED! Thanks to reader Tim Tylor for realizing that this trauma comes from JOHN CARPENTER's PRINCE OF DARKNESS!
That sounds pretty much like John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness.
Tim Tylor, I think you got it!Â
This is weird- I sent in a 'Name That Trauma' a few weeks ago that I now see was for this movie. All I could remember were the video scenes from the future. Guess two birds were killed with one stone here- how fitting! Thanks!
rifframone!!!
YES! your Name that trauma is PRINCE OF DARKNESS too!:
Sorry we didn't get to this sooner!
We are kind of backed up with NAME THAT TRAUMAS/TRAUMAFESSIONS so if we've missed anybody out there sorry!
We'll get to you soon!
No problem- I assumed you were backed up so I was waiting semi-patiently! Having it solved did make my day though. Thanks Tim Taylor- and Unkle L!
Oops- Tylor!!!!
Riff,
Unkle L- I'll be looking forward to that post- and I'll be renting the dvd ASAP so I can rewatch the film! That last scene is creepy as heck- can't wait to see it again. I bet in a few more years it will turn up as another  'Name That Trauma' and you will have your chance for redemption! Also, as long as I'm rambling on, it was neat to see the Cyndi Lauper video on here today. I always liked the Kindertrauma Jukebox posts, and it's nice to see some music here again.
Oooooh. Prince of Darkness. IMHO one the most under-appreciated horror films. I really dig the "science" angle on the story, which really turned a lot of folks off for some reason. Plus, as a grad school veteran, the whole church/satan/investigation enterprise had a surprisingly authentic feel. What critics complained about as wooden acting I saw as the actual personalities of many grad students I knew!
I've noticed the PoD has a "stealth" horror effect. I've shown it to two friends who proclaimed that it was not scary at all as the credits rolled, but were waking me up in the middle of the night, completely freaked out. Maybe it was the whole "Brotherhood of Sleep" thing….
