Oh, I hope someone knows the name of this movie from the sparse details I remember … caught this flick on T.V. in the late ‘80s. Most likely it is from the ‘70s or early ‘80s and it's about a child or children being raped/sexually assaulted in a play house in the backyard.
The images that stood out in my memory are that of a swing in the child's bedroom or nursery, the presence of Raggedy Ann dolls and I think a moment of repressed memories resurfacing years later when returning to the play house.
I think the title had the word "house" or "home" in it. There may have been some woods behind the house too.
I have racked my brain trying to remember the title or the name of a character and I have been combing through a list of over 3,000 movies at IMDb that fit into this criteria, but half of the titles don't even have a plot description. Any clue what movie this is? It's killing me!
Thanks,
Rose J.
UPDATE: NAME THAT TRAUMA SOLVED! Special thanks to Reader saladbar for solving it with the made-for-T.V. flick A TASTE OF EVIL.
Something about your description reminds me of Do You Know the Muffin Man? a TV movie from 1989. It involved sexual abuse at a daycare. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097214/
Rose J: I think that this could be the 1971 made-for-TV movie "A Taste of Evil" starring Barbara Parkins and Barbara Stanwyck. In it, Babs Parkins plays a gal who's recovering from a chilhood rape, and whenever she visits her old playhouse (located in the woods behind her family's stately home), she has flashbacks to the traumatic episode. Haven't seen this flick in years, but I remember it as being "unsettling."
I think saladbar is right about this; I just watched "A Taste of Evil" two weeks ago, and it definitely matches Rose's description.
I've only seen the beginning of Taste of Evil. I need to find my copy!
Unbelievable! Â I couldn't remember if I had ever submitted a request here about this movie, and that led me to page back through six months of Name That Trauma (this stuff is addictive!) and here someone else has remembered, inquired and gotten an answer! Â All I could remember was as a little girl, on a Saturday morning of a sleepover at my grandfathers', the cartoons ending and this program starting. Â I saw only what I believe are the first few moments of it, with a little girl in her playhouse, and then an ominous man-shaped shadow falls over her, and seeing her doll, and at that point my dear old papa invoked the (grand)parental discretion now so often advised and told me we hadn't better watch this. Â I am still creeped out to this day, and as soon as I read the title, it clicked. Â But now, how can I see this again?
