Hey there,
I love your site…now onto my very vague clue. An '80s horror movie which involved people (friends/couples/family… I can't recall) who go into a wooded, forestry area and are terrorized and killed by a humanoid, animal-like creature. At the end of the movie the characters set up an elaborate trap to try and capture the beast. I recall the beast using the tree tops to get around as well…I realize this doesn't offer much but it's been killing me for years to try and recall this movie I saw one Saturday afternoon in my youth. (I'm guessing it appeared on the good ole Saturday Shocker creature feature which aired from a Detroit-based station in the '80s).
Hope you can help out!

UNK SEZ: This is a tough one /stu! It could be so many movies! I hope I'm not barking up the wrong tree but three films popped into my head immediately: HUMONGOUS, MADMAN and THE FINAL TERROR. I posted the trailers below for you to take a gander at and because they're sure to be fun to watch anyway. Do any of our readers know of any other movies this might be? Throw your bets in the comments section and if nothing else, we'll end up with a nice collection of woodsy horror titles!
Could be THE PREY. Lots of tree tops in that one.
Demonwarp maybe? I first watched it on Saturday Nightmares on USA as a kid on one glorious summer night. It all takes place in and around around a cabin in the woods. The monster really freaked me out as a kid. Potential traumafession…..I just saw that Billy Jacoby is an official Trauma-Tot, awesome!
Craig, PREY! That's a good one!
Philip Mertz, I don't know if Demonwarp is the answer but it should be! Demonwarp should be the answer for every question ever asked!
The mentioning of Demonwarp has put me in the mood for some Night of the Demon…
Don't know the answer to this one, but as far as woodsy horror goes, 1983's EYES OF FIRE is pretty damn good considering its obviously tiny budget.
(By the way, thanks for the previous tip on BLACK DEATH – great flick!)
If it travels by treetops, it sounds like Predator.
Perhaps "Prophecy", with a hairless, wrinkled, pink, man-in-a-rubber-suit, mutant bear, poisoned by mercury from a lumber mill, terrorizing people in the woods? If so, I haven't seen it since the 1980's, but it was rather dreadful, and I seem to recall it being shown alongside "Food of the Gods" fairly regularly, which wasn't much better.
