I am usually not a fan of remakes, but I cannot wait for this movie because of Jackie Earl Haley. I love the new makeup for Freddy although I have heard most fans don't like it. April 30, 2010 is far too long to wait for this movie.
Being a huge Krueger fan I am very much looking forward to this. The trailer gave me chills! The new burned look seems interesting and may take time getting used to, but I welcome the change.
I also like how the trailer focuses more on its horror aspect than the cheesy one-liners that the older Freddy movies are famous for. Not to say that I don't like the cheesyness, I do! But this trailer makes it seem more like a legitimate horror movie. So… yey.

When I was told they were remaking NoES, I said they wouldn't be able to find anyone to fill Robert Englund's sweater. Â When I heard it was Jackie Earl Haley I said: Â "Hmmm…ok, you got me."
I'm hoping it'll be better than the last "Friday the 13th". Sorry, but killing people that deserve it is too boring. And Kellan "Emmett the Dude Vampire" Lutz is in it. 🙂

So, what's the premise here – is Freddy an innocent man in this remake, or was I fooled by Haley's pleas for mercy?
Full disclosure – I lived in Bloomington IN for many years and therefore have a disproportionate love of "Breaking Away" and all things Moocher. So my judgment may be clouded.

The trailer seemed very exciting, Nightmare on Elm Street is on of my favorite horror movies. Freddy's humor I hope is carried on into this remake.
As a lover of the original NOES movie I was a bit skeptical about a remake…. I have to say I though the cinematography and the production design in this new one looks amazing… I was a little bit turned off by Freddy's new voice and make-up though, it almost looks like a CGI make-up in that one shot… maybe this is just a temp shot since the film is still in production. Looks promising though!

Jackie Earl Haley is the only person I would be willing to accept in the place of fabulous Mr. Englund…both are little guys who can be menacing beyond belief. The funny thing is I just saw the original film this week for the first time. I had seen parts of the later films and was unimpressed enough to never watch them but my husband, who hates horror movies, made me watch the moment he heard that. I was highly impressed by it's creativity and creepiness, then discovered he saw it when he was 6 and that it was his first kindertrauma. 🙂

They had me at Clancy Brown. Rawhide! Kurgan!
This is an interesting trailer, though. For all the talk about how this is another "reboot," there are a lot of scenes that look from here to be pretty identical to the original: Tina's death, the bathtub scene, the girls in white dresses. And Kyle Gallner even looks a bit like young Johnny Depp.
Yeah, Haley's Freddy voice is a little — odd. A little like Christian Bale's Batman, but with false teeth getting in the way. I may have to be sold on that one. But generally this is pretty awesome looking.

Woot! Another Clancy Brown fan! I was raised to revere both Buckaroo Bonzai and Highlander! To this day my mother and I will sit through the film Blue Steel largely for Mr. Brown's acting…and Mr. Brown's nude scene. 🙂
NOES is my most favourite of all time, even better then my obsession with Saw. And when i heard about a re-make, i was immediatly annoyed. I dont think the make up looks good, and i think the only bit that looks good so far is nancy's scene in the bath. i really am not happy with them making a new one. i will watch this one, and most probably really hate it. for the only sheer reason that you cant replace heather, robert or wes! i hope people forget about this film before it comes out. and i hope it gets less then 1 star 🙂 happy days people.
