So there I was this weekend working on a post for BAD DREAMS when I found this Official Traumatizer nomination from reader FatherOfTears in my inbox….
RICHARD LYNCH gave me the creeps for many years in my childhood! He usually played bad guys in sci-fi films over the years, including the original BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and BUCK ROGERS IN THE 21ST CENTURY He has this evil look in his eyes and a sadistic grin. He may have had his best scary role in BAD DREAMS. In that movie he plays a cult leader who sets himself and his followers on fire! One follower survives and his ghost begins to haunt her when she awakens from a coma. Talk about irony: LYNCH himself was a burn victim in the late '60s! He had a bad LSD trip, poured gasoline on himself and then set HIMSELF on fire! He lived, but his face was all scarred up. He would later use this as an asset for his bad guy roles! So with this I nominate RICHARD LYNCH as an Official Traumatizer.
Is FatherOfTears psychic? The same exact thing occurred last week when I was writing about an episode of TWIN PEAKS and he sent another LYNCH nomination, in that case DAVID LYNCH. Kismet? The collective unconscious? How can anyone explain this phenomenon? Well, FatherOfTears consider RICHARD LYNCH an Official Traumatizer both because he earned it and because I now live in fear that you have direct access to my brain and will reveal to the world exactly what I did one moonlight night at Camp Wanahickee circa 1981!
My most traumatizing Lynch moment is also from Invasion USA:

Lynch + coke fiend + coke straw = the pleasure is all his.
This guy has always freaked me out! I remember him in a TV movie called Vampire from 1979. There was a scene where his burial ground is disturbed and he comes out of the ground yelling. I don't remember much else from that movie, but that scene left an impression in my brain. Ooh! He is creepy!!
Mickster,Â
Unk, I read somewhere that this was a pilot that wasn't picked up. That is unfortunate because this would have been a cool series. Do you remember a short-lived series from 1979 called Cliffhangers? There was an episode called "The Curse of Dracula." Michael Nouri played the role of Dracula. Lots of vampire stuff on regular TV in 1979. Of course, I always loved vampires. I remember a book in my school library, I checked out about a hundred times, about vampires. It was very cool. I wish I had that book now, but unfortunately I don't even remember the title.
WOW! Just like that one comment: "Don't (F-Bomb) with Richard Lynch!".   He has done some more "reserved" roles. He was an archaeologist in "Arizona Werewolf" which wound up on MST3K in the late 90's. "Bad Dreams" was the one that stuck out for me. I think I watched it with my younger sister and she wondered about his facial scars. Well, years later I looked him up and I learned about his "bad trip"!  I wonder what was going through his mind filming those scenes? BTW, I am NOT a psychic! I do not have access to unkle lancifer's brain nor anyone else's. Not even that Malkovich guy!Â
Indeed, that Michael Nouri check it out here:

4, no wait! (Gets thrown in The Gorge Of Eternal Peril)
It is true. Unkle emailed the number 9 to me earlier. Too bad.
Hey Unk, people use to want to take me to Vegas because I win lots of prizes on the radio. I will tell you all the stuff I have won over the years with my "useless facts" sometime.
Mickster, I forget the context, but I seem to remember referring to you as a "good luck charm" in the past so that does not surprise me!
@ FilmFather: Holy crap, I had forgotten all about that scene from Invasion USA. I'm gonna have to see that again!
OK, so my ex boyfriend met Richard Lynch and got his autograph for me! Said he was quite nice but blew a bit (and pardon this word – I hate it!) FART in the middle of the store my boyfriend was working at. I think Lynch's girlfriend just said "Was that you?"
Seriously. I do not lie!
I haven't seen this Vampire movie either, but briefly wrote about it in an article I wrote for Film Threat on TV Movies released in October for Halloween. So it came out in October – this much I know!
I love Mr. Lynch. He can actually be quite charasmatic. Like, Alligator II is so not a good movie, but he's great at the hillbilly-ish croc hunter. And yeah, he was mainstay on episodic television back in the day.
I knew he had set himself on fire, but for some reason I thought he did it to protest the Vietnam War! Wow, now that's commitment!
btw, my boyfriend has that Nouri vamp movie, I think. I've seen it – but not for many years. I'd love to visit again. I remember Nouri rocks a mean turtleneck!
Oh yeah, and for the record, I also think Invasion USA fucking rocks!!!
