I've said it before and I'll say it again, Kindertrauma readers know their horror. Reader sbd gave me a major head-slapping, "I could have had a V-8," moment when he remarked that Mr. TIM CURRY should be considered an official Traumatizer. CURRY not only perfectly embodied perhaps the scariest and most kinder-traumatizing television entity of all time as Pennywise the clown in the miniseries IT, but he also pretty much made a career out of playing people who you would not want to be left alone in a room with. (I'm well aware that there are many out there who would be delighted at just such a scenario, but this is neither the time or the place!) CURRY's portrayals of the demonic Lord of Darkness in LEGEND, the BERNADETTE PETERS withstanding opportunist flimflammer Rooster Hannigan in ANNIE and, perhaps most horrifying of all, the brain-frying, psychedelic sense-stomping songster Grand Wizard in THE WORST WITCH all serve to further underline sbd's cause. So here's to you TIM CURRY, this honor is well-earned and long overdue. You, my scene stealing, multi-talented friend, are one impossible to dispute Traumatizer!
Official Traumatizer :: Tim Curry

Glad I could help, Unk!
You know, I think I pinned down what it is about Tim that makes him who he is as an actor. Â Ironically (since he went on to play Arthur in Spamalot), he's like Tim the Enchanter from MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL. Â His characters are all strong and powerful, kind of over the top, and even menacing, but at his core is a creepy uncle persona that always manages to come through at least a little bit. Â I just hope he quits smoking so that, like Christopher Lee, he can carry on his own legacy well into the 21st century!
Let us not forget the Curry's turn as Johnny LaGuardia in TIMES SQUARE. Â I find his fright wigs and big-ass horns much more reassuring compared to this sleazy, date-rapist dee jay.
The weird thing about Tim Curry is this: He's one of those celebritys that you find yourself wanting to get freaky with! Sure, a lot of women wanna do Johnny Depp and a lot of men wanna do Angelina Jolie but WE ALL wanna do Tim Curry!
His power is maximum!
Hey, it's me, Amanda. I posted that thing about Tim Curry as IT? I don't think I have any more to say. Although I did love him as Frank-n-Furter.
My first Tim Curry experience was way back in the day… I was 5 and my mother smuggled me in to the drive-in to see a double-bill of Rocky Horror and Shock Treatment. She hid me in the spare tyre recess in the trunk. What a night! Sensory deprivation, Tim Curry axe-murdering a hot chubby and then my absolute total confusion during Shock Treatment.
Tim Curry is awesome! I find him oddly appealing and attractive in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Legend is one of my all time favorite fantasy movies from the 80’s and he kicks all sorts of butt in that movie without the help of CG effects. I don’t think there is a scarier clown than Pennywise. There is nothing like a clown coming out of the shower drain to say, “Hello Wheezy!â€
As an adult, a few characters still scared me until I woke with the realization that real life is scarier than any movie monster and started LOVING and overdosing on Horror films.
One who scared me as an adult was the clown Pennywise from IT. Ugh. What a horror he was. Of course, what a letdown when we find out what he really is, but until that, it was a mess.
Ok, he's definitely scary even without clown make up but….Pennywise is one of the most frightening King (and basically all horror) creatures ever. Â I was SO SCARED in "IT" until the revelation.
Tim is my favorite actor, period (though there are many others I enjoy). But one of the reasons I love him so much, is he CAN take on roles like Pennywise that have apparently traumatized a lot of people over the years (I always found him funny in the role), and is such a versatile actor. Seriously if you guys can check out a lot of the work he's done in the UK in the 70s and 80s on film and television, track it down, because he should be way more famous than he is and than what Hollywood does with him. Also if you have a chance to see him in a play GO. He's brilliant onstage. Been to 3 of his shows now, and met him 9 times since 1993. He's also one of the nicest, least scary dudes in person. I love him!
