I watched this one as part of my quest to watch all 72 of the movie from the Video Nasties list. Not a bad little flick. Certainly much better than a large number of the others on that list.
I held off watching this movie for years because it seemed like it was going to cross that little personal line I have. However, when I finally got up the courage to give it a go, I was extraordinary surprised to find out that it's a really great little movie. This is what I get for listening to voices inside my head! 🙂
OK with the mention of one of my favorite films ever, it's obviously time to stop lurking and become a (however modest) voice here on your wonderful site, Unk.
Yes indeed — "Don't Go In The House" is a beaut! Such a menacing atmosphere throughout, and with Grimaldi's fine performance, you really get the sense that this guy is severely tortured just as much as he's capable of torturing. Very dark, and as Amanda points out, crosses a line or two quite nicely.
If only there were more horror films like "Don't…". This is exactly what the genre should do: thoroughly unsettle and instill discomfort, as well as entertain.
I saw a screening of this in NJ last year and met star Dan Grimaldi…such a great guy! Was priceless hearing him laugh a few rows behind me through the whole film!

Did you ever finish that quest. The nastie one?
…"nasty" one, i meant.

Bless ya, Unk, for once again unearthing this one and bringing it's ugly head into the flamethrown light. — ∆☩Y§ ☨♆∀☥âœÂ
I did finish my quest, yes. Some of the films were really hard to track down, especially in their uncut glory.
If I ran a local theater, I'd make this a double feature with "Maniac". Of course, you buy the popcorn.
