I've noticed a lot of PSA-trauma sharing lately, and I wanted to get in on it and share the one that scared me the most as a kid.
This one here:
The idea of drowning in your own bedroom just completely terrified me. I had nightmares about that happening for weeks after I saw this.
Hey kids, if you do drugs you'll wet the bed so bad it will kill you.
I remember that one! Creepy. Say, remember the snake one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Msrgn5xZFPg
Am I crazy or is the narrator of that PSA child actor Jonathan Brandis? I may be crazy; it's okay to say so.
I remember this one! The one that freaked me out when I was little, though, was the one where the little girl's voice said "When I grow up, I wanna be a ballerina", and a guy's voice said, "No one ever says I wanna be a junkie when I grow up. Don't let drugs get in the way of your dreams". It scared me because of the look on the woman's face as she slowly falls to the floor.
I went looking around on youtube for those PSAs yesterday and I saw one I didn't see as a kid, but it would have scared me even more than the ballerina one. It was one of a girl who was pounding on a guy's chest in a bathroom after he'd apparently OD'd. It said "I wanna be a nurse"…..and the woman doing the pounding just looked so scared! I think the slow motion is what made it even more scary.
