When I was pretty little, some time in the ‘70s, some babysitter let me and my sibs watch ROMAN POLANSKI's THE FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS. It scared the crap out of me. The old hunter who kept freezing and having to be thawed out was bad, but the worst was the woman who was stolen out of her bath by the vampire. I was terrified for weeks, afraid I was going to be snatched out of my bathtub by a vampire.
When I was in college I rented it and re-watched it to see what was so terrifying, and then I saw that it was a sex farce and that the vampire was a homosexual trying to seduce the young vampire hunter. What a difference twenty years makes!

That is one of my favorite movies, and I have been trying to see the musical version ever since…not the one that was ruined for American audiences, but I'm sorta hoping this vamp movie craze will yield the musical remake Polanski was planning before his arrest. (Even if someone else would have to take the reigns now…)
This is another movie featured prominently in a song by Skinny Puppy, "Rivers."  Also with clips from 2001 and A Clockwork Orange.

Okay, I caught this last month on my Netflix qeue and laughed my ass off through the whole thing. When Polanski runs away from the vampire on the balcony, going in a full looooong circle right back to the vampire and when he drops the vampire kit off the roof of the castle , down it goes….and down, and down, and down some more off into that steep assed valley, priceless. That's just two scenes that stand out from many. Too bad Polanski turned into such a pervert. 🙁
I could see how some of those scenes could scare a child that was too young to catch the humor, though.
